The Road

The Road
12" square Acrylic and paint pens on gallery wrapped canvas

A teeny landscape appeared on this side, so I continued it on the other side.

I so enjoyed painting the little Adobe series that I decided to start something with a cooler color range. All the blues, limes and greens needed a touch of warmth so I added bits of magenta and finally yellow. Sticking to a color scheme is good practice for me.
The surface on this painting is more opaque vs. the looser brushwork in the Adobe series. This is the result of continually changing my mind on the colors, and covering the previous layers completely.

    Honestly, Melody --

I love the colors and energy of your paintings. It's my favorite thing to look at in the morning.

    Thanks.

  3. I have to say that while I am amazed at how much you do each day, and they are beautiful, you're making me feel really lame for not getting anything done :-). No, it's OK. That's MY problem, not yours. Maybe you should paint more than once a year, though. How will you just turn it off when you need to start quilting again? And should you?

Boy! You are prolific. I like the colors and non-objective/abstract nature of your paintings.

Merry Christmas and thank you! from a reader in Seattle.

I came to your blog more than a year ago (from Stumble! I think). I mostly read political/economic blogs so reading yours and looking at your wonderfully colored art just makes me smile.

  8. Wow! This is my favourite so far! It brought a smile to my face and a jolt to my stomach - but in a very good way ;-)
The colours are great, and I love how those little landscapes suddenly appear amid the squares and lines.
