Birthday Loot!
=

All superwash wools, woowoo!

It's not like I needed any more yarn, but really can a gal have too much yarn? I have tons of sox and now I have all new sock yarn for my year of traveling, sitting in airports and waiting. I am thrilled! Frieda Girlfriend gave me a gift certificate to a local yarn store and I visited asap and found these orphan skeins. Only one of each was available. Poor starving homeless and pairless skeins. I knew I could combine them and make some spectacular socks, so I spent my gift certificate on these.

Emily Parson, the darling, mutually yarn addicted artist that she is, made me this sock bag. What is a sock bag you ask? Not something to pack your socks in, silly! One puts one's sock yarn in and puts the straps around the wrist and knits away. Decoratively. Pinkily. Dottily. Heehee. Right for me, I'll say. The bits of yarn in the pic below are yarns I scored, I mean received in trade for some yarn that I knew Emily was collecting. I got Noro and silk, and Trekking SOCK YARN!!!

La dee dah I am already making new socks and not even waiting for a trip to start. Notice also the square red glass button and purple pen in position upon the knitted swatch. Girlfriend Gifts!
Here is a better shot. The glamourous (British spelling) scissors are from Laura Darling Girl, which I made her 'sell' me for a penny, out of ancient custom. Never give a cutting gift, lest it signify a severing of the relationship. They have a lovely beaded chain on the handle, so no one mistakes mine for theirs, I hope.
Anne Lullie did not give me her Red Ridinghood poncho which I lusted after. Hrumph. Posted by Picasa

  5. You can have my poncho any time! I had no idea --But I can certainly picture you rushing about your errand in the red poncho---Let's make it a community property-we can all share (If you dare to stand way Out in the crowd!)

  6. Happy belated birthday, Mrs. Mel! You got some great goodies there, but I got an even better present. On YOUR birthday I got a new baby grandson! How cool is that, hey?

  7. BTW, I am missing the funny quotes. Too tedious? Too fussy? Too bad.

  8. Happy Birthday, Mel (belated). Cool presents.. you've got great pals.

And while Emily may call that a sock bag, my friends all refer to theirs as a ball sack.
