Deep Pool Special Edition Cotton
I got back to work Monday. When I dye fabric I usually just let my mind go and surrender to the dye. But yesterday I dyed specific fabrics to coordinate with the two new patterns.
I made a list and tried to stick to three colorways, Deep Pool, Fiesta and Pastels. This is similar to juggling jello. I am not accustomed to paying attention while dyeing and must constantly refer to my list to keep on task. I am lame, I know.
These are stock photos and if you are a long time reader, you will find them very familiar. Who would think a blog would have stock photos?
So when I have a dye day I have nothing amusing to report. I have leftover dyes and fabric and no where to dye anymore fabric until these are dry. It has been very hot and steamy here for October and that makes drying slow. I am not putting on the fans, since we are leaving town today and the fabric should dry by Wednesday.
For knitting content, I am using up teeny tiny oddballs and the scrap scarf...she grows.Dave and I are heading off for western Illinois and a visit to Bob-O's new house. Bob-O is a motorcycle friend, one of the original Motomaniacs. Dave only has European Biker Friends, BMWs, Ducatis, Moto Guzzis, etc. Veddy Cultured and esoteric collector types with names like Wolfgang, Klaus and Sergio. No wonder Bob had to add the O to his name.
And they call Dave...Motoman.
Bob-O and his significant other Renee have purchased a former halfway house for returning missionaries. I am not kidding. It is in Elizabeth IL, which is near Galena and the Mississippi River. (I thought the world ended just east of there, but apparently not.)
The house purports to be newish (1990) and sort of sounds like my dream house, huge ceilings, grand walls and a kitchen capable of feeding the multitudes. The original owners were churchmen of some gentle protestant denomination and the place is loaded with hanging banners declaring aspects of the Good News. Dave says they are considering replacing these hopefilled fabric panels with my decadent work. O My.
So we are off to have some quality time in The CAR. I am bringing my knitting. Photos to follow.
Sweetheart, even I have stock photos and I have only been blogging since August!!! I just love the name of todays blog. It is sublime!!!
ReplyDeleteooo... If you actually drive into Galena.. the cheese shop there is fabulous. Pick up some Spanish raw milk manchego to nibble with drinks. yummy stuff.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of stock photos...I never realized your special editions had names.
Love the scarf!
ReplyDeleteso helpful to see pictures of your process(es); enjoy Elizabeth - if you do go to Galena just down the road, there's a newish bead store there: http://www.galenabeadbar.com/index.php
