Finished Design Walls

The view from one of the three doors into my studio. The quilt top on the design wall was made back in February 2010 as part of my Quilt Along. I never quilted it and never got a good picture of it either. But now that I have this wall, I can easily shoot it with either overheads, daylight or flash, killing two birds (problems) with one stone. Yay!
I have had to rearrange a lot of things to make open space for two big design walls, but I am NOT complaining. This is such a good thing.




The walls are covered with cotton batting (80/20) by Fairfield, in King/Queen or 110x110" trimmed to fit more or less to size, 96x96".

In the end I only used four of the Command Hooks. One at each side and two at the center of the bottom. I may add more, but at the moment everything seems very stable.







I do have spot lights too, but they create hot spots for photography so I will only be using them for displaying work when I have my fantasy open studio.



















Finally, a good shot of the top.
Knowing what I know now, I think I can disassemble this top into sections, and quilt them, adding sections as I go.
It doesn't have to remain unquilted in my closet forever! Again, Yay!

Here's the other wall on the opposite side of the studio. Another unquilted top and the one I was dinking around with Tuesday night. I had to move my yarn and stereo to the back wall next to another door to the studio. Who knew it would fit so perfectly? On the left of this wall is my work table, so I can use this wall as I work too.









Looks like this top could easily be quilted in sections too.
Alright, I have my work cut out for me now.
