It was an absolutely glorious day outside, with cool temps and more than a steady breeze. But I chose to work inside and am so glad I did. Major progess on this top took place.
I kept asking myself what color I was making this into and the yellow/orange/pinks took over after the major turquoise of the center. The working title is Turq which should have meant more turquoise than screaming orange.
O it's loud alright. Not exactly napping colors, but I likey.
I am aiming at 60x80, and at the moment it is 45 x 65 so not that far to go to finish. I may have to disassemble some parts to quilt it as I go. Or maybe I am just being a wimp and can handle this much at once without too much of a struggle. It would be nice to have my sewing table for this, but I am still waiting for the replacement top to arrive and then to assemble it all. Makes me wonder if I really needed it after all. I seem to be able to quilt this stuff just fine without it.
My attitude while I am making this is just to enjoy the process and make myself happy. Finally.
I have rejected some parts and the replacements were much better, so I feel like I am getting the hang of piecing improvisationally. I can't believe how freeing this is. So loosey goosey, but  perhaps after this one is finished I will have graduated and can actually work from a plan for the next one. Why not?
I gotta say some of my design sketches are tugging at me and I really want to make them.
A couple of you have asked how I will quilt this and I must again go with straight lines. I love this new way and it makes large work so much easier to deal with and get it done. You all know I can do fancy quilting, but I guess it just doesn't fit this kind of work, and I am so not into it anymore. So no more cringing when I think of tackling the quilting part. That's such a great thing.

And now one little Daily Dawg...Chester on my bed, being the Royal Pup

PS, Thanks for all the kind comments on yesterday's saga. We are living it one day at a time. So far, so good.

  4. Love the bright colours. Turquoise is my favourite colour, you make such uplifting quilts, keep up the good work. Yes I think Chester has gained a few pounds but looking good, wish I could say the same for myself!
