The Treemen Arrive

I insisted that we have professionals take down the trees in our new landscaping project. I called several guys and left messages and only one returned my call. I scheduled them at 8am today and they arrived at 7:30, in the pouring rain. I ran out in my robe and slippers, with the dawg, got my umbrella and pointed out the trees we want removed.
These are three of the five (with the X's) that must go. Too close to the house for Dave and Mike to take down, and so much easier to pay the experts to remove them. The wall space got dug yesterday and the daylilies and liriope were saved in buckets along the path. The predicted storm arrived on time last night and it was a doozey, and continues as I write. The wind was so loud and the trees outside my bedroom window swayed dangerously all through the night. Still, nothing fell, amazingly. Yet, yesterday afternoon, in the calm before the storm a tree near our road just fell right into the street, barely missing a neighbor's truck. He stopped and another fellow and he removed the tree with a makeshift lever and crowbar. Why then and not during some previous storm? Who can say.

Here's our ferocious guard dog, ears flying, coming home after chasing after the treemen in their huge truck. He's all wet, of course.
The rain is filiing the pond up again, yay! and one of our lawn chairs may be floating soon. It's a good day to stay inside and do laundry.

  3. I meant to tell you Sunday Morning had a feature on fish and most specifically koi as pets. Evidently they pet them and have beauty contests...just like cats and dogs!

  5. You are getting so much done in your yard! I wish I were that far along. Wouldn't you think if you buy a 50 year old house there would be flowering shrubs and perennials? Not so. Only foundation plantings that are overgrown.

  6. We were supposed to get bad storms on Sunday night but it stayed south of us (sorry about that Melody) and we didn't get anything. Sunday was gorgeous here...it got to be 80!!

What is it about tree removal companies that don't even return your call??? That happened to us last year. We called 3 companies and only 1 called or showed up...sheesh!!

    The look of love-----
Your place is so tidy and the transformation can be totally attributed to both of you. One the dreamer and producer and the other assigned to hard labor. But WOW great results. Of course champion of the all over, is der "dawg".

  8. I always can see exactly what you are talking about in your daily life, though the photos grace your descriptions...I could just picture you running out in your robe and slippers with the robe flying out behind you. You always make me smile!

  9. It all looks lovely and peaceful. But I know how much work it is. Dawg reminds me of the old country song about a little barking dog who thinks he's guarding the yard :-) He's priceless!
