Quilt in situ

Susan the new owner of Full Sails sent me these pictures of where she hung the quilt. I must say I think her desk and chair are the perfect compliment to the colors in the art. Woowoo! Doncha just love the color of that desk???
Even a yellow inbox. So arty.
And she also just got this great new sunflower design area rug. I am so happy to be represented in this happy environment.
And Nancy sent me this great idea for hanging quilts. Using Command Hanging strips, and a $.69 yardstick. Genius!

After a loud and stormy night I have the happy little iris reticulata to share with you. It is truly Spring.

  3. What a gorgeous house!!! Your quilt is a perfect compliment to her style :)

I have a question about the ingenious "ruler" hanger....how does the quilt attach to the ruler??

I've been debating on how to hang some of my quilts and didn't want to put holes in the walls. This might work:)

  4. The yardstick is threaded through a typical 4" sleeve sewn to the upper back of the quilt. The beauty of the Command strips (sold as picture hangers for mounting on frames) is that the pairs of velcro strips can be separated and repositioned to level the hanging, and, if needed, removed from the wall without leaving a hole.

I had the same question as Colleen -- Is there a hanging sleeve on the back of the quilt?

  7. I must say your iris flowers held up well after the storm!

Great tip about those Command Hanging strips! I have never seen them, and it would not have occurred to me to use them to hang quilts. I'll have to pass that along. About that ruler... a couple things. Don't know if it's treated or not, but something I learned from my guild is that if you hang your quilt on untreated wood, the oils in the wood can leach over time and stain the quilt. But maybe the ruler is treated? And maybe in a sleeve it wouldn't be that much of an issue. The person that mentioned it was talking about quilt racks, as I recall. Also, where did you get a 36" ruler for $.69?

And yes, your quilt DOES look fabulous in its new home. Great combo of the yellow table and purple chair. Still love that quilt! The new owners are lucky!
