Playing House: Dave's Room
'
He refers to this as his 'Rheuummmm" with a French accent.
While Dave was at his doctor's appointment yesterday I entered the inner sanctum and thought, 'Hmm, this room could use an update'.
So I stripped his bed and dug in the archives to find a quilt that would coordinate with his red faux suede curtains. I found this log cabin, my very first quilt (What was I thinking?) made in 1981.
We have three sets of queen size red sheets (Target had them on sale for $15, what?) so that was easy. Then the Tommy Hilfiger comforter was handy, so that was added to the mix.
The quilt is machine pieced and hand quilted, with a backstitch instead of a running stitch. I was insecure about the running stitch lasting. What little I knew back then.

His bedroom also has a mini-dining room area, so thinking ahead to Valentine's Day I set the table for romance.
I gotta get some silver...stainless everyday flatware just doesn't make it.
What this table needs is a big flower arrangement, no?

A 'while you were out' moment. How inviting and so romantic. I am sure he loved what you did.

Sorry to have to tell you this Mel., but the white placemats won't do. If it's for Valentine's Day, then shouldn't it be that 'certain' colour that that rhymes with 'bed'?

  3. You're right Anon. My red ones are stained and full of glop, and must be washed first. I'll get right on it.

  5. I love it! I am sure when he says "room" it has the sound of Peter Sellers speaking with his french accent in a Pink Panther movie!!! I hope the romance goes better than those same movies!!! LOL.

Need silver? Try eBay. I got a lot for very little.
People don't want to polish silver anymore.
And if you only need two place settings you can get some real deals.
I also mix and match silver (and any thing else in my house)Big Sis

  8. That's hot! (says Paris Hilton!) I backstitched my first quilt, which was a scrappy log cabin, too!
