Half the Blocks

I figured I need 48 blocks for this twin size top and half are made, plus two I am not going to use. It will be rearranged multiple times before the blocks get sewn to each other. That's part of the fun, isn't it?

But today I packed up the fabrics and began focusing on Christmas, and not a minute too soon. Our Christmas will be fantastic, if delayed a wee bit. My sister Brooke and niece Glory will be flying in on the 26th from Singapore! It will be a marathon of three planes, Singapore to Narita, then onto O'Hare and from there to Nashville, arriving (hopefully) at 5-ish at night. The poor darlings! Then we will drive the two hours back to Palmer where they will just fall into bed and have a great night's sleep.
Our holiday celebration is 'scheduled' for the 28th, with a bit of shopping first on the 27th if they have any energy at all. Food and cooking will ensue and mountains of goodies are planned. We will all wear our expandomatics.
Dave and I have been thinking of music as a part of the visit, with Glory doing a reprise of her solos from the Sound of Music and the Christmas school pageant. And Brooke and I (twin voices) are sure to come up with our own numbers, with Dave as both audience member and interstitial raconteur ("Did you know I was in a band?") and (his dog) Todd stories. Show business is in our blood. We have dvds to watch, yarn and fabric to fondle, art supplies to try out and presents to open. And girly stuff to do, like shopping and cooking and our nails...this will be the best Christmas ever!

  1. The blocks are coming along well - I also have a Janome 65ooP that I love though it can get temperamental tension at times.

Have a wonderful late Christmas with your family.
