The Drought has Ended

Our first opening poppy, from the plants that I thought I tore out last season. One must get every bit of root out or they will return. I am not complaining, it's just that this bed was planned to be all greens...O well, in a few days it will be all green again.

It has rained three days in a row, which in my book is proof that the drought over the last few years has finally disappeared. The soaking is great, and since Thursday is supposed to be in the 90's...stand back!

My lilies are primed to open, maybe even later today. The chives are drooping from so much water in their flowers. I will cut them back and carefully toss out the seedheads. WE have sooo many chives.

I planted the basil in compost and it never looked so good. I am ready to harvest a few for salad.
I had my colonoscopy yesterday, don't remember a thing, and got to enjoy a two hour nap when I got home. Better than an island vacation. I woke up weighing less than the previous day.
So health wise, I am 100%: mammogram, pap smear and colonoscopy done for the year.
Now back to the dieting.
PS. New dates have been added and others are deleted from my 2007 schedule. See Sidebar.

  1. Melody!

Can you tell us what class(es) you will be teaching at Quiltfest in Jacksonville? They don't seem to have the class details up yet...and Jackson is actually less than a thousand miles from my house!! I may just be able to make it to that one! ;-)
    Thanks....

  2. I told you the colonoscopy was a snap. Actually more enjoyable than an mammogram.

  3. Your garden is looking happy about the rains -- but I'm starting to get a little waterlogged and cold after today! But hey -- what's a 30 degree or so difference in temprature in a one week span to someone who lives in Illinois?
