Arranging for Light

Painting in the sewing room wasn't working. I couldn't get the light right. So I decided to make the sewing room into a painting room, putting away sewing stuff, and rearranging the furniture so it worked better for me. If you walk into the room I can greet you here. The window is over my left shoulder and the ceiling fixture is above me, and slightly behind so the light is on the canvas. I have two tables and a taboret to hold paint, palette and brushes.

I kinda buy into Feng Shui and think that one must position oneself in a space for maximum advantage, whatever that means. I can see 'intruders/visitors" and feel centered in the space. I have walkspace and yet have surfaces to keep supplies at hand.

The palette I use is a cheapo table top which came with one of those put together decorator tables that use a tablecloth to match your drapes. I tossed the legs and kept the glass. Glass makes a great palette as dried paint can easily be scraped off.

My paints lined up by color, with a few of the zillions of brushes I have collected over the years. The sewing/cutting table is now covered with plastic and I will be buying a covering for the white table in an hour or so.

I finally am getting the reds I want, using oil over the more transparent acrylics. I don't know what I am doing with this painting, but playing with shape and colors. I may abandon it, and just call it homework, like my old algebra papers.

  4. Great that you have a space that's so convertable-That's because you are organized-whereas some of us(ahem...me) are so NOT. Loving the deep rich red-yummy. Hey to Dave!!
