Working Out the Grouch

Untitled 24"x30"ish, fused cottons

I could not shake my foul mood. I could not say what was the matter. I could not stay happy for a whole day, even after getting a great bargain, eating a great meal, watching a great movie or having a great skate.
I was miserable and restless Wednesday night so I got up at midnight and went into the studio. I worked on stuff until 3:30, and while nothing really came together, it did help a bit, if not totally, to be fiddling around with fabric again.

Detail
Thursday morning my sister and I went to a big sidewalk sale in the next town, where my local yarn store was having 75% off, and I bought NOTHING.
Wha? Yup.
We returned some stuff, like library books, came home, had a late brunch and split up. She went to bead or read, or wash clothes, and I went back into the studio...I was planning to make something else, since my midnight stuff was so unsatisfactory, but y'know, it looked a whole lot better in the light of day.
I found some more red and yellow and blue to add to it and soon I was rollin' on the river of artmaking!
The kinks came outta my neck, the shivers came trickling down my spine and I sang and danced the happy dance.
There is no substitute for making a piece of good work. I stayed happy all day, and loved everyone and the sun came out and the flowers bloomed again and all is right with the world. Goodby Crabby Appleton.

  1. Crabby Appleton! Now there's a character I haven't thought of in years. Do you remember what cartoon show he was in?
