All the comforts of home, sorta

I had a productive flight and chose not to watch the inflight movie, Walk the Line, so Dave and I could rent it and enjoy it at home together. Plus I needed an inflight snooze so I plugged in my mp3 player and allowed YoYo Ma to soothe me whilst I finished my first sock of the trip.

As mentioned previously, I am not too happy with this yarn, as the fake fair isle is a teeny bit too fake looking. And the stuff is like string, so like, NOT luxurious in the hand. However, I am committed to finishing, because I am not a one sock wearing gal.

I don't know what got into me, fear or sleepiness or the bouncing air pockets on board, but I decided to do a three needle bind off instead of the kitchener stitch (grafting). I can always take it out and redo it. But it was so not-stressful to accomplish and feels so normal on the toe, so I wonder, why bother? I'll see how I feel when I get to the other one. They will not match since I didn't bother to line up the yarn sequence, color wise. This will be a pair I will wear when feeling devil may care. Is that a rhyme, or what?
I had a great night last night giving my lecture to the Beach Cities CA Guild. They laffed!! It was 10pm Central Time by the time I went on and I was, shall we say, subdued. This made for a safer presentation for the audience's sake, preventing cardiac arrest for many.
We had a superb dinner, and I stayed on my diet. I am getting more serious about this, since I have plans to get a new bathing suit next week, so I must gird my loins. One night with no wine and I feel like a saint. Let's see how long I can last.

Blogging in bed, by the light of the laptop. Don't you like my ethereal blue glow. I chill, so I shawl. Actually it was quite warm yesterday but when the sun went down I was glad I was wearing the omnipresent Fancy Fur Faux Fox. Nice hair too, eh?

The fact that I can go online and chat with everyone keeps me feeling connected. This is bliss.
Today I will teach starting at 10:30am, which is so California to me. In Wisconsin we started at 8am. So you decide which is better. I will have breakfast in the hotel and then travel a ways to get to the shop where the workshop is held. No coat, no socks, no gloves. Sandals. O boy!

  1. Melody, I can't get over how prolific a knitter you are, as well as producing all your artwork. I'm beginning to suspect you're really a robot, and work 24/7! I love reading your blog every day, don't ever stop.

  2. You were allowed knitting needles on a plane???????????????

Keep up the diet, but go easy on going easy with the wine. I seem to remember someone pointing out that it was an essential part of fusing :-)
