Familiar?

Where have I seen this shape before? Duh! Is the nothing new under the sun? Of course not. Nevertheless I had to make the quilt and hang it on the wall before I saw the similarity to Georgia O'Keefe's Black Cross.

Well, I should visit it in person as it is part of the Art Institute of Chicago's collection.
I wanna put a little tag on Red that says, "O Nevermind."
Just kidding. I am still high on it. And thanks for all your nice comments. Sorry I got a little artspeaky there. I usually squish it down flat but I had let down all my fences and couldn't help myself.

Now that I am not focusing on blocks, I found a repeated image on Jane Brocket's site that I had to show you.

It is a card of wonderful buttons, which screams QUILT!!! Doncha think? Somebody must make this, so I don't. BTW Jane's site is so wonderful that you really ought to visit it. O, she is a knitter who occasionally makes quilts, and cupcakes, and is a wine expert and Phd. in English Lit, specialty: Dickens. woowoo.

Off to pack up for the girlfriend's weekend bash. Trala! Pray for internet access.

Oooh, those buttons really DO scream quilt. Or, rows of books. Or, rows of quilted books...

And I think I read somewhere that there are only seven original ideas. Everything else has just been variations on a theme. Of course, I don't remember where I read that. And I certainly don't know what the seven original ideas were/are.
