Early Rising

I have recently taken to waking up very very early. 3:30ish. Not because I want to, but because a huge wave of monstrous heat overcomes me and I have to stumble to the sink and splash cold water on my face, arms, neck and chest. It relieves the hot and sweaty moment, but after that, who can go back to sleep?

Then comes the search for my spectacles. I am calling them that because it makes me feel like an old crone who can’t see anymore, which is me, and I need my damn glasses to even find my damn glasses. If I lay them down on something patterned, like the bedspread, they are completely unseeable.

I can get my cats quieted down early, and let Dave stay asleep but this morning while I was in the library (aka: the yarn room) knitting early, I heard a terrible thump. I ran downstairs thinking that someone or something was on the deck and bumped into a chair or fell over a cat or something. When I got to the back door, no one or nothing was there, everything was in place and Popeye was looking at me like, “Yes, may I help you?”

Here it is 7 am now, and Dave just strolled outta the bedroom and asked, “Did you hear me fall out of bed?”

That had to have been that terrible clunk. Thank heaven we don’t sleep in bunk beds.

  2. Poor Dave, I hope he is okay. A bump on the head?

    And Poor Melody.
Two suggestions for you; go back to sleep after the water splash (like I do) and get Lasik.

  3. Ten years from now this will all be a faded memory. You will be collecting social security and be quite the hip senior citizen. Don't ask me how I know!!

  4. I have to agree with Tommmie! I got Lasik about 5 years ago & it changed my life.

About those night sweats---doing it too----have you tried Cohosh?
